Biafra: Of Kanu, Abia and Military Invasions

1. The narrative that FG sent soldiers to "invade" Abia state paints a picture whereby troops from elsewhere were deployed to lay siege on the State is very shallow and uninformed. It is also the reason why the rank of opportunist wailers are swelling (granted that some folks are professional wailers).

2. There's no state in Nigeria without one major military formation or more. It is a given. If there is any public disorder that need to be quelled, it is the troops in that vicinity that would be first called upon. Deploying more troops (from across outside Bns & Divs) are far fetched for mere protests or "armless" clashes. It is strategic, administrative and logical.

3. Many wailers on Twitter and Facebook don't even live in Abia State. Yet they cry more than the bereaved. Whereas the bereaved have carved a propaganda system whereby unrelated gory pictures are placed beside genuine but hyped news stories.

4. Soldiers who are on legitimate internal order duties on the streets should not be attacked especially if they haven't raised any issue with you. Doing so is simply calling for trouble of gargantuan proportions.

5. Soldiers are trained to look for, create and deal with troubles. It excites them. Just like you are trained in driving school to drive cars, you simply don't get scared of the roads thereafter. Don't give them an excuse to exercise their training on you. They have nothing to lose ...heck!! they don't care about social media noise.

6. The fundamental point we should tackle is why soldiers are often used for cases that the Police are well trained to handle, albeit in a more civil manner. The loss of confidence in the Police system by the same govt that created & funds them is not only self-contradictory but also sad and calls for retrospect.

7. The people of the South East should rein in this opportunist demagogue of Nnamdi Kanu (rabbi & Messiah, rolled into one) before he plunges the entire region into ruins of North East proportions. They should understand that human and material losses would only be limited to the East. And that their people would be IDPs in their own lands and refugees in other regions. He probably needs to visit Borno State to see the ruins of a land destroyed by its own perceived self invincibility.

8. The attack on NUJ office by some "unknown soldiers" in Abia is another pointer to the sad reality of our absolute disregard for human values and impunity as exemplified by the mentality of an average uniform wearer. We should all condemn it.
